About me

Dr. Christina E. Hoicka  

Social Exergy Lab

I hold the Canada Research Chair in Urban Planning for Climate Change and I am an Associate Professor in Geography and Civil Engineering at the University of Victoria. I hold a Bachelor of Engineering (McGill University), a Masters in Environmental Studies with a focus on ecological economics (York University), and a PhD in Geography (University of Waterloo). I study the diffusion of low-carbon innovations and renewable energy and the justice and socio-economic benefits of a renewable energy transition. I am co-founder and inaugural Chair of Women & Inclusivity in Sustainable Energy Research (WISER) Network.
