Sara Chitsaz

Sara is a PhD student in the ReSET CoLab under the supervision of Dr. Hoicka at the University of Victoria. She completed her BA with honours in sociology at the University of British Columbia, and her MSc in rural and environmental sociology at the University of Alberta. Her master's thesis research was centred on documenting socio-economic baseline data for the Fort Nelson First Nation-owned Tu Deh-Kah geothermal project with a focus on associated information sharing, attitudes and expected benefits among community members. Sara has been involved in a variety of research projects relating to the impacts of community energy projects for First Nations in BC, renewable energy clusters, and energy utilities' funding and regulatory structures in Canada. Her interests lie in community engagement, knowledge mobilization, and community renewable energy projects.
